Student Visa Requirements

Estonia does not issue student visas. Instead, non-EU students must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) to study in the country. Below is the process:

1. Secure Admission – First, gain admission to an Estonian university. Upon acceptance, you’ll receive the necessary documents for your TRP application.
2. Prepare Required Documents – Gather all necessary paperwork, including proof of sufficient financial resources. Specific requirements are available on the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board’s website.
3. Apply for a TRP – Submit your TRP application once you have your admission letter and required documents.
4. TRP Validity – The permit is typically granted for up to one year. You must begin the renewal process at least two months before it expires, through the Police and Border Guard Board.
5. Register Your Residence – Upon arrival, non-EU students must register their place of residence with the local government within one month.
6. Family Permits – If you are studying at the Master’s or Doctorate level, your spouse and children may also apply for a Temporary Residence Permit.
